I think you should just be glad they are giving you one and let it be a surprise. But I do know everything irritated me more when pregnant especially when it came to my in laws LOL
Well I definitely think you should have been involved on who gets invited, I agree that is very rude. And I agree about not inviting people you hardly know for presents. If your SIL understands then either her or your husband should talk to your MIL, it sounds like she is a bit controlling.
i would like to know a few details- even who is invited- they have got some wayyy off! at least they are doing it well- my friend didn’t do anything about it until about 4 days before and loads of people couldn’t attend and they were upset about it. others had offered to do it, but i thought it would be rude, since the first girl had already said she would. i still had fun though
well most of the time the woman isn’t even supposed to KNOW she’s having a baby shower… its usually supposed to be a surprise (traditionally speaking, anyways). but i don’t know. just let them handle it. relax and enjoy the fact that people care about you so much they just want you to have a nice day.
my mom will be planning mine, and she’s mad that i even know about it but she needs a list of guests so really there’s no way around it, hah. oh well…
just try to not let it get to you. you’ll end up with a great day planned for you with none of the stress on your shoulders and you get lots of presents and goodies. =)
being preggo makes you irritated, its ok, seriously let them do al lthe work, you’ll be thankful for it, worry about your blossoming little one, thats’ what really matters.
Well being irritated is understandable, but you are kind of overracting. Try to remember that they are just trying to do something very nice and special for you and just enjoy that planning it is not your responsibility!! Enjoy your shower
I think I would give my opinions about what I would like and pray that someone was listening. I know my friends would want me to be happy so they would be sure what I was asking for was some how incorporated in to the plans.
Seriously i wish i had somebody doing this for me!! I am currently 25 weeks pregnant and i have to make my own baby shower! My parents are helping me out with the food but the rest has to come out of our pockets!! but that only thing that i don’t understand is why are they giving you attitude when you ask about your baby shower!! if i were you i would just relax and let them do whatever they nned to do! be happy that you are not going to be worrying about planning your shower!! lol
Traditionally someone else handles the whole thing and it is usually a surprise. While I do agree witht them that you should stop asking questions and just let them handle it, I think you should at least be able to provide a guest list. Since it’s your husbands family I would speak with your husband. Give him a copy of your guest list and ask him to step in on your behalf and let them know there are people on your list you think are being left out that you would really like to be there. Hopefully they will listen to reason, unfortunately they may not. As for those guests being invited that you may have not chosen to invite, I wouldn’t worry about it. If they don’t want to come they won’t.
Try to relax and enjoy! Congrats on your pregnancy!
At least you are invited. My MIL is having a baby shower for me out of state with her daughters and sending me the gifts and a recording of the party later.
I do understand your point about the guest list. The least that they can do is accept some of the add’l friends/people you would like to have present at the shower.
My sister is throwing mine and I will leave it up to her however, I will give her the general people of who I want there and who I dont. She understands that and has no problem.
Maybe you can a slip a list of some add’l people and your sis in law can handle it for you since she understands.
Sweetheart, your are blessed to have a friend and family who care enough to plan something special for you, so please let these feelings go…. and no, it wouldn’t irritate me at all. They are simply doing it in the traditional way, and that’s a nice thing. If you have any concerns that someone might accidentally not be invited, then just take your friend aside and nicely mention it to her. Other than that, let them handle everything else and simply be grateful. Once that baby arrives you’re going to have your hands full, so enjoy letting someone else do things for you right now, ok? Enjoy the shower and blessings to your little one.
I don’t blame you for being annoyed. It has nothing to do with being hormonal and pregnant either. You are supposed to provide a guest list. As you know already, there are people that you might want to invite that those 3 wouldn’t have a clue about. I would suggest that you let one of them know that you have several people you want to be sure are on the guest list.
I guess all you can do is take a calm breath and just ignore it entirely until that date.

These people are going out of their way to do something wonderful for you and you’re giving them attitude about it? You aren’t worth it, then!

Why would you be irritated that people are going out of their way to throw you a shower where you will receive gifts?? Listen to yourself! Boo hoo.
Your attitude is completely wrong. Just appreciate the fact that you are lucky enough to be having a shower and let it go.
